Hello!!! Our revered readers
It’s so good to have you here on our Artist Corner. Today we have someone so fun to be with a musician to the blood. I'm sure you having been waiting for us to meet him. We had a swell time interviewing him as he took us through his journey so far as a Musician and Song writer.
Welcome with Us. Adegbite Stephen Olu'yonder aka “King Yonder”.
Soundtech Studio: When did you start your music career?
King Yonder: Music started with me since when I was age 7 but I choose it as a career few years ago, 2012 to be precise.
Soundtech Studio: So, on a lighter note... Are you available for a relationship?
King Yonder: I'd love to keep that to myself! ..... Winks.
Soundtech Studio: Your favorite color
King Yonder: White
Soundtech Studio: Your most embarrassing moment?
King Yonder: The first day I played guitar on stage, and it was taken off my neck right on stage.
Soundtech Studio: You are really good at guitar and saxophone.... Which would you call your major?
King Yonder: All!
Soundtech Studio: What genre of music do you love listening to the most?
King Yonder: I love many genres, my preferences change time to time but been listening to lots of American gospels, smooth jazz and Naija afro pop.
Soundtech Studio: Five favorite international artists?
King Yonder: Richard Bona, Kirk Whalum, Lira (South Africa), Asa and Lagbaja.
Soundtech Studio: Aside from making music what other thing would you love to engage in?
King Yonder: I love NatGeoWild, chatting, intellectual discussions, reading and meditating (thinking). I love handy....Creating things....bags, clamps, straps and all....And I love repairing gadgets too.
Soundtech Studio: What would be your achievement in the next 5yrs?
King Yonder: I’ll have reach out to billions of people in the world. I believe my songs and productions would be highly esteemed, sang and appreciated by different people from different nooks and crannies of the world. Whites, blacks, Asian, American, Australian, all!
Soundtech Studio: Do you have a formal music Education
King Yonder: No!!
Soundtech Studio: How do you Handle Mistakes during performance
King Yonder: Love this....I have always believed Music is Art....And there is a believe in the fine arts that mistakes can add beauty if handled well. Rather than fidget or panic, i and my team are spontaneous to play along 'happily' and 'enjoyably' and get the best out of the current situation. But excellence in rehearsals, matter most, pays than using the current situation.
Soundtech Studio: Do you play with any band?
King Yonder: I have a band that works with me
Soundtech Studio: What had being you greatest challenge as a musician and tell us how you overcame?
King Yonder: My greatest challenge as a musician has been comparison and imitation. We all have that subconscious thing that easily wants to be like others, I have many musician friends, with different abilities, strengths and all.
By virtue of 'consistently' appreciating and working on your strengths... You have no time wanting to be like any other.
Note the word, 'consistently'.
Soundtech Studio: There has been the revolving of music over the years, different genre of songs.... The old and new generation vibes mixed together.
You just released a song Owo Re. How will you categorize the song with respect to the revolution of 21 century music?
King Yonder: What I personally have observed, is how music has evolved overtime. Historically, nothing has changed... NO INVENTIONS REALLY, except in the world of music technology, having lots of discoveries recently. We've simply had a blend up of several things 'to taste'. No new chords, nothing new in approach to song writing, composition, nothing new about progressions and all. But the blend up have really generated lots of reactions and responses overtime. Positively and negatively Personally, Its one of my strength as a musician. Most of the time I do 'blend ups; I call it 'GOSPOP', a mixture of American gospel contemporary music, African music and Pop. It has generated emancipation of a single world where the same kind of music reaches everyone. We all kind of listen to the same.
Soundtech Studio: Owo re is the latest song you realized.... Trust me it’s been the talk of the Town. What has been your most inspiring comment on the song?
King Yonder: A fan of mine said 'That song is a sound of heaven to the earth for the now, says it's the provision of heaven to the earth, amidst the tribulations and rancor.
Soundtech Studio: A word for musician.
King Yonder: Yeah, excellence is an unending journey of consistently doing well.
Music deserves it. Even if you are creative, hold on to that quality.
Its breeds hope and optimism to our world at large.
Break your records, appreciate differences, comparison is a form of self-disrespect.
You are the best of You, Be the best at your race and never forget your source.
